Halloween 2014

First of all, can you believe it is Jake's THIRD Halloween?  How does it seem like just yesterday he was this cute little bear, and then our little superhero who hated his cape?  I can't even handle it.  Now he's a grown man dressed up as a baseball player.... with an Elmo on his shirt :)

Anyway, this year we started discussing options early.  I like Halloween, but I don't like spending a lot of money on a costume, especially since Jake has started to become very opinionated on what he wears.  It would not be fun to invest $30 into something I would have to force on him.  So thankfully, this whole outfit cost $1.  All we had to purchase were the red socks, and everything else we had except the shirt which a friend let us borrow.

For a couple weeks we started giving Jake suggestions on what he could be, and when we mentioned baseball player, his interest perked up.  After visiting Cooperstown last weekend when my parents were here (we will post those pictures soon :) ) we decided that was our best option.

We went to the Wegmans trick or treating like we did last year and he was much more aware of what was going on.  You could tell he didn't quite understand all the people dressed up in a place where we usually get groceries and the Harry Potter in front of him was really freaking him out so he had a hard grip on my hand the whole time lol  Afterwards though, he enjoyed eating all the food.

Then came Halloween. All day he was saying, "No baseball player."  And I have to be honest with you, it really would not have been a big deal to me if he didn't dress up.  We would just hand out candy and it would be a relaxing night.  It was way colder than last year anyway.  Then, as the kids started coming to our door in costumes, he started saying costume, and when I asked him if he wanted to put his baseball player costume on he said, "No, Farmer."  So, thankfully he didn't say something like Curious George because we had a flannel shirt and overalls and out we went trick or treating.  He actually did a really good job holding out his pumpkin and saying thank you to everyone.  In the end, I'm glad that he got dressed up because it was fun to walk around the neighborhood and visit with our neighbors.  This little man of ours definitely likes to keep us on our toes, though :)  And because of the last minute costume change, we didn't get any pictures in the farmer outfit, however, I'm pretty sure you can do a good job picturing him in overalls :)

Hope you all had a wonderful Halloween!

Then we headed outside to practice :)

Jake is already trying to throw sliders and curve balls lol
