China Update 4: Zoo and first couple days in Guangzhou

When we were in Chongqing we were able to go to the zoo and see the pandas and some were babies :) They were so playful and I'm pretty sure Cole would have jumped in with them if Dan wasn't holding onto him so tightly! And Cole was somewhat of a celebrity as people kept coming up and getting pictures taken with him.  We were warned that people would probably stare at Cole since he is an American baby but the coming up and wrapping their arm around him to take selfies was definitely not what I expected!  Thankfully everyone was really nice about it, but Cole didn't like it all the time :)  Ben enjoyed the pandas and pointed at them when he saw them playing but as you can see in a picture below,  we flew to Guangzhou in the afternoon and got in late Friday night so we definitely had some sleepy boys. Ben did fairly well on the flight, he tried to eat the play doh I gave him (he definitely didn't know what to do with that!) and then fell asleep. When he woke up though he was crying and didn't want to come off my lap and thankfully the flight attendants let me hold him until the end of our flight.  The unfortunate part of our travels to Guangzhou was that we realized when we got to the hotel that our driver didn't pack two backpacks and our double stroller  ðŸ˜³ when we called our guide it had already been 45 minutes and we thought FOR SURE we weren't getting them back (and the one had some of Ben's personal items from the orphanage in it ðŸ˜©) But our guide called and told us at midnight that it was still there! We were SHOCKED.  If that had happened in Chicago I am almost positive someone would have taken it.  We were so so thankful that we got all of our stuff back!

Saturday morning we had medical tests done and Ben was a trooper as a lot of other families were there waiting with their adopted kids as well. They were just basic check ups, the following week he had to do what's called a Sputum test 3 days in a row where they put a tube through his nose and down his throat to get a sample of his phlegm.  We couldn't be in the room with him but we could watch through a window- not sure if that helped though :/  He survived even though they weren't fun.

Here are some pictures from our last couple days in Chongqing at the zoo and then our first few days exploring our hotel in Guangzhou!

We had to introduce Ben to the McDonald's happy meal :)
