All Things Fall

I love viewing the seasons through a 2 year old's eyes.  Everything from the pumpkins, to the leaves, to the hot chocolate is so exciting and new.  I can totally see why my mom always decorated way more when we were little because it is so fun to watch kids get excited about even the smallest things (like pumpkin window clings lol)  And honestly, I don't have too many seasonal decorations.  Living in one bedroom apartments for the first couple years of our marriage led to not too much room for many extra decorations.  So slowly these past couple years we've been buying a couple extra things to decorate with, and I obviously had to get a couple new prints from Lindsay Letters this year.  I just love her work and probably will want to get more for Christmas.... but we will see if the budget allows :)

Anyway, I hope you are enjoying Fall at your home!  These are just a couple pictures that I've taken to remember this season of our lives :)

I can keep these prints up all year, right?

An early Birthday present- a 50 mm lens :)

The pumpkin window clings :)
This is the face Jake makes when he's trying really really hard to do something - like put on these tiny little eyes and mouth on the pumpkin lol
This is actually a picture of my neighbors porch haha.  She decorates way more than we do- maybe next year we will get more mums lol

Hot chocolate time!  Yes we gave him a real glass mug.  I didn't have anything else- maybe we should invest in more plastic utensils lol

A birthday party and pinecones

So this begins me veeery slowly catching up on everything I haven't blogged about in the past couple weeks!  Being out of town really throws off my blogging- but obviously it's worth it :)

Because I know what is coming (cold weather, dark by 5:00, basically feeling quarantined inside) we are trying as much as we can to get outside and enjoy every last ounce of Fall.  Even if that means creating a road out of pine cones while we sit on the sidewalk.  The other week we headed outside and I brought my camera because right now in New York around 5:30 is the best time to take pictures (the light is so pretty!) and had some fun playing and taking pictures. Then dad came home and Jake wanted his shirt off while he ate dinner so I had to take some pictures of him playing his guitar- because these are memories we for sure want to remember!

And then that weekend we went to our friends birthday party!  I love 2 year old parties because while we are there to celebrate obviously the birth of the child, it really is a great excuse for us parents to get together and hang out :)  Jake was just happy to be in someone else's house playing with someone else's toys!  It was so cute to see little Thomas eating his cake and we had a great time playing with his new toys, as well (as you can see by the pictures below)

My parents are in town this weekend so we are going to enjoy showing them around Binghamton and some nearby cities- we are really hoping to get out and enjoy the last of the leaves before they are all gone!  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Family Pictures

We have been out traveling for the past week and there are so many things / pictures to share!  But first, so I have time to get them all together, I got the rest of the family pictures from my mom this week so I decided to post them!

This past summer the whole family came together (minus my long lost twin brother, Doug, who lives in California and couldn't find a cheap flight- its ok we will edit him in the ones that we print and put on the wall ;)) and we took some pictures.  Honestly, this photographer did amazing considering what she was working with.  I have done a couple photo shoots for families since I am taking my photography class and let me tell you, taking pictures of kids can be much harder than it looks!  Especially when said child is named Jake and is tired because he didn't get enough sleep the night before.  Friends, there were some rough moments during this photo shoot and I was surprised our photographer got the pictures that she did.  There was no shame in the fact that we were bribing with fruit snacks and at one point I think we were all singing Dinosaur Train to get him to crack just a *little* bit.  Oh, the things you will do to make a toddler smile.  Nonetheless, we survived and now we have some great pictures to share :)
