The big T W O

I know I'm three days early, but I just couldn't wait :)  I'm not going to lament the fact that my baby isn't actually a baby anymore and that he truly is a little boy.  And I won't say that this past year flew by (even though it felt like it went even faster than year ONE! eek.)  Instead we will celebrate all the incredibly fun things that can come with this age.  Because even though Jake (and let's be honest mom, too) have their moments these days, this stage truly is a blast.  From the moment he wakes up in the morning yelling "mommmmmy," to the bedtime prayers and Bible reading before bed, there is never a dull moment and we have a lot of fun together.  So, Jacob Lawrence, here are some fun things I never want to forget about my TWO year old little boy :)

  •  You are OBSESSED with your hat.  You must have it on every time you go outside and of course, every time you play baseball.  (View pictures below :) )
  • You still love your guitar and always make me pretend to play the drums on my workout ball so we can both jam out together to B-I-N-G-O.
  • I'm pretty sure you still love dad more than me, but I am just assuming it's because he's better at tickling you than I am, and that you really are eternally grateful that I wipe your mouth, change your diaper, clothe and bathe you, and feed you.  I'm not bitter about it at all, don't worry.
  • That stinkin' lamb of yours is still your bff when you go to bed.  You're on your fifth one and I'm kind of hoping that we can slowly abandon the lovey so we don't have to keep buying more when they start to smell a little funky... this is quickly turning into an expensive habit!
  • I love that when your dad or I ask you for a kiss you have to give us a hug as well :)
  • You have the best running form of any toddler I know- maybe we have a future track star on our hands ;)
  • You are obsessed with our mailman and getting any type of mail.
  • Your current besties on TV are SuperWhy, Dinosaur Train, Thomas, and Blues Clues.
  • You've just discovered that animals have tails and get SUPER excited pointing it out on any dog or cat that you see.
  • You have become quite the traveler with your M&M rolling bag in your two years and have visited Florida, California, Ohio, Texas, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Chicago, New York, Colorado, and New Hampshire!
  • Your favorite foods are fruit snacks, any kind of berry, peanut butter and honey sandwiches, and of course, McDonald's fries.
  • Your favorite things to do these days are: go to the playground, go to story time at the library, take walks to get fro yo, and hang out with your friends here in Binghamton :)
Doing life with you is such a joy :)  I am SO incredibly privileged to be your mom and can't wait to see what this next year brings!

The only way Jake would put on a tie is if Dad did, too :)

I asked Dan to take his hat off of him and start running so I could try to get at least one picture of him without his hat on... and he immediately starting running after Dan shouting "hat, hat!"

So we put the hat back on :)

A little two year old Birthday surprise....

Jake's birthday is on Monday, but I couldn't resist setting up his birthday present the second it got here last week.  Honestly, I am not sure who was more excited about the gift, him or I.  Ever since I spotted this in the Land of Nod a year ago I have wanted to get it for him, and since we aren't doing a big celebration for Jake's birthday this year like we did last year, we decided to go ahead and splurge on it, hoping he will use it for years to come :)

I wanted to be in the playroom when he came in to get his expression, unfortunately 6:30 in the morning (when Jake woke up!) does not offer the best lighting so I did the best I could then took a couple more pictures later on when it was brighter out.

Can't wait to show you the 2 year old pictures I took of Jake later this weekend!

A taste of spring

It has been so fun for us to watch our garden grow this summer and we've been spending so much time outside.  Last year taking care of our yard was a little overwhelming.  Jake was still too small to trust to wander around the yard while I watered or pulled weeds, and he definitely wasn't interested in what I was doing so I spent most of his nap times outside getting things done.  This year, we bought Jake a watering can and he helped us plant some of the herbs so he is excited and ready to help :)

I also found this cute list on Pinterest of fun activities to do and I hope to tackle a couple of them this summer.  I am really looking forward to spending the summer with our little man :)

Every time the wind blows he grabs his hat and laughs because his hat has blown off before :)

Stitch Fix #2

Get excited, I got another Stitch Fix box!!

So I learned a thing or two from my first box, and as a bonus, I found something that I am going to buy this time!  Yay!  First off, I created a  Pinterest board specifically for my Stitch Fix stylist so she can get a better idea of the style I am looking for.  At first I had her looking at my "Girl Stuff" board but I realized that I needed to be more specific in what I was looking for because some of the things in my Girl Stuff board include items I already have in my closet and just wanted to remix in my own wardrobe.

Secondly, I lowered the price I wanted to pay for things.  When it comes down to it, I probably won't spend more than $50 on something unless I LOVE it.  I know when you sign up for this you do get more expensive items, but I don't want to spend $50 on a tank top that I can get for $20 at Loft.

And honestly, I was very happy with most of the items!  You can see more of my thoughts below:  (PS, check out the new camera strap that Dan got me for Mother's Day :)

Abstair Abstract Stripe Front Pocket Blouse- $48
I have to be honest with you, I LOVED the sleeves on this blouse and thought it looked cute with a belt.  I just found something else I liked better and couldn't bring myself to spend almost $50 on a blouse like this and $50 on something else.  If it was in the $30 range I may have considered it.
Purchased? No.

Tazo Mixed Floral Print Knit Back Tank- $54
Eh.  The color on this wasn't great and it was too boxy and I didn't love the pattern.  Overall just didn't look good on me.
Purchased? No.

Abrianna Longsleeve Knit Cardigan- $48
I really loved this one a lot :)  The color was great, the fit was great.  I could wear it with jeans or over a dress.  The material is super comfortable and it is perfect for out or around the house.  An all around YES.
Purchased?  YES!

Lydia Faceted Stones Long Necklace- $36
This necklace is actually very pretty, I just am SUPER cheap with jewelry.  Like Target clearance jewelry.  Next time I won't put jewelry on my fix because I most likely won't spend over $10 on something.
Purchased?  No.

Danny 5- Pocket Knit Pants - $78
Although these pants were very comfortable, they were a little tight (not sure if they were supposed to be like that because they're skinny jeans or if that's how they were made) but I felt like it looked like I was wearing spandex which is a little too much for me.  However the fact that they were a little stretchy is perfect for when I'm chasing Jake lol
Purchased?  No.

Do you like how I just kept the pink cardi on because I liked it so much?!  Anyway, I am glad I did it again.  It was really fun and I definitely will do it a third time and be even more specific on my purchases and stick with clothes and potentially shirts, skirts, and dresses... although I am all for getting new pants, they are hard to fit and the ones I've gotten are more expensive than I would like to spend.
