Memorial Day Parade

Annnnd we have reached the end of our Memorial Day weekend pictures.  I know you are deeply saddened.  Don't worry, I have many others to share from New York :)  It's SO much easier to take pictures in the summer than it is in the winter.  Yet another reason to move somewhere warmer...

The last day we were in Ohio we went to the Memorial Day Parade in downtown Hudson.  Oh my did it bring back memories.  I'm not sure if anyone else is like this, but growing up in a particular town you just can't wait to get out.  Then you leave, and for some reason every time I come back to visit my parents I keep telling Dan, "You know this really was a great place to grow up... *hint hint nudge nudge*"  lol  But for real, it is fun to go back to our home town and do things that I did as a kid.  Like when the Hudson High School Marching band came by I had major flash backs to all the hot, sweaty parades that I marched in back when I played the clarinet.  Then there was that time that I fainted on Memorial Day when the band had to stand in the cemetery for like an hour...  yes, like I said, such good, sweet memories ;)

Anyway, it was Jake's first parade and he L-O-V-E-D it.  I think he could have sat there for two more hours and watched the fire trucks, horses, and marching bands come by.  It was so cute to watch him wave at people and get so excited when something new passed by.  I can see many more parades in our near future :)

Jake had a fire truck on his shirt so he was "showing us" the fire truck as an actual fire truck passed by lol

After all the pictures we took this weekend, Jake had reached his smiling "max" lol

A Second Birthday

A couple weeks ago we had our immediate family over for a small get together to celebrate Jake's second birthday!  Unfortunately, not many of our siblings live close by but Aunt Beth could be there and Jake was very happy about that :)  We opened gifts, played corn hole, ate WAY too much black bean and corn salsa (thank you Aunt Sam for the amazing pinterest recipe), grilled out and had cake.  Jake loves being outside these days so it was perfect and we were so thankful our family could be together!

It's still hard to believe we have a 2 year old!  I can't wait to see what's in store for Jake this next year :)

We let Jake pour on some "extra" sprinkles aka the whole container lol

Thomas the Train: the beginning of the birthday celebrations

As usual, it took me quite some time to sort through all the pictures we took while we were in Ohio the other weekend for Jake's birthday.  And now that my dad has a nice camera and is taking pictures- I have even more pictures to sort through!  However, it is really fun because there are many shots that I wish I got with my camera that I didn't get, but my dad did.  We really should start our own photography business ;)

The birthday weekend started off with an outing to 'Thomas and Friends.'  Basically every single thing you can imagine related to Thomas was there: T shirts, hats, backpacks, Thomas the Train episodes showing, pictures with Sir Topham Hat, Thomas balloons, Thomas tattoos.  Seriously, you name it, their marketing team thought of it.  And of course, there was an actual Thomas the Train that we took a quick ride on :) Although they had bounce houses, Jake was on the younger side so I didn't want him to get mauled by an 8 year old so we stuck with doing the low key activities.  Here are some pictures from our little outing!

Getting his first tattoo :)
Showing it off to the grandparents!

Showing me his Train ticket lol

Saying "buh bye" to Thomas... until next year I'm sure lol
